How to Care for your Great Lengths Extensions
Great Lengths extensions are 100% natural human hair and when maintained correctly behave just like your own hair.
A little more time and care is needed, but the investment is worth it and you’ll be impressed with the quality results.
Did you know you lose approximately 50-150 hair strands a day!
When extensions are applied, some of those loose hairs remain trapped in the bonds so regular maintenance is essential to prevent hair from matting.
A small percentage of bonds may also be lost during the life of the extensions. This is perfectly normal and, if kept, can possibly be re-applied.
Great Lengths products must be used to guarantee the lifespan of your extensions.
The range has been specifically formulated to care for and prolong the life of your extensions and bonds. With a pH value compatible with your hair and scalp, Great Lengths products are kind and form a vital part of your daily maintenance routine.
The range includes:
- Daily Moisture Shampoo
- Colour Reflex Shampoo
- Structure Repair Shampoo
- Conditioner 60 Seconds
- Anti-Tap Water (Final Rinse)
- Protector - Instant Care Spray
- Pearl Gloss Styler
- Hair Mask Extra Rich
and can be purchased from the Products page of this site.
Do not shampoo your hair for at least 48 hours after hair extensions have been applied to allow the bond to set
Always use Great Lengths products as these have been designed to prolong the appearance of your hair extensions
Always follow the directions on the bottle
Shampoo and condition your hair at least once a week
Finish by rinsing your hair in diluted Final Rinse Anti-Tap Solution to restore the pH balance of your hair and scalp
Always dry your hair thoroughly, starting at the bond, as it is at its most vulnerable when wet
Do not towel dry the hair with a scrubbing motion. Instead, use a blotting motion and wrap the hair in a towel to remove the moisture
Always blow-dry your hair on a cool temperature
Flat headed, soft bristled Great Lengths brushes are the most suitable
With small sections of hair, gently brush from the bonds to the ends of your hair
On a regular basis, separate the bonds with your fingers to prevent matting. Then brush gently over all your extensions
We recommend you tie your hair in a loose pony tail or plait to prevent tangling while sleeping.
Great Lengths Extensions suit most lifestyles, but may need a little extra care in these circumstances:
Regular swimming, particularly in sea or chlorinated water
Regular sauna or steam room use
Excessive aerobic exercise
After these activities, use diluted Anti-Tap Water to restore your hair and scalp to its natural pH balance. Remember to always dry the bonds thoroughly.
Great Lengths Serum Hair Fluid (or any serum fluids) should only be applied to the lengths and ends of your hair, and not the bond
Great Lengths offer a range of brushes for maintaining your extensions without damaging the bond, the round brushes can be used for blow-drying
Straightening Irons and heated tools can be used, however they must be kept away from the bonds
